Jon Michael Leccia, or Contramestre Malandro, is the founder and leader at Capoeira Terreiro da Lua. At age 14, Malandro began his capoeira training. He received his first rank in 2005 and has visited Bahia, Brazil to train numerous times. Malandro received the title of Contramestre in 2024.
Professor Sossego began practicing Capoeira in 2010. He has over 10 years of experience teaching capoeira to toddlers, children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. He was awarded his Professor cord in 2025.
Monitor Guerreirinho has been training with Capoeira Terreiro da Lua for eight years, originally drawn by his love of music and desire to master a dynamic movement practice. In 2019, he took a trip to São Paulo, immersing himself in Brazilian culture and training with various capoeira groups. In 2023, he was awarded the rank of Monitor.
Monitora R2D2 has been surrounded by capoeira since she was 4 as her father, Monitor Caminhao, would practice around her and would take her to his classes. Her capoeira journey fully started in 2018, interested in the athleticism and musicality of this art. She joined Capoeira Terreiro da Lua in 2021 and was awarded the rank of Monitora in 2025. Immediately after, she visited and trained intensely in Salvador, Bahia.
Monitor Caminhao attended his first batizado in 1998. He has been an avid, devout practitioner of capoeira for over 25 years. He joined Capoeira Terreiro da Lua in 2021 and was awarded the rank of Monitor in 2025 together with his daughter, Monitora R2D2. His words of wisdom and encouraging personality make him a vital part of our community.
