Jon Michael Leccia, or Contramestre Malandro, is the founder and leader at Capoeira Terreiro da Lua. At age 14, Malandro began his capoeira training with Mestre Ombrinho. He received his first rank in 2005 and trekked to Bahia, Brazil to train in 2006 and 2008. In 2015, Malandro received the Instrutor rank under the teachings of Contra Mestre Omi of Ile de Palmares. In 2024, Malandro received the title of Contramestre.
Instrutor Sossego began practicing Capoeira in 2010. He has over 8 years of experience teaching capoeira to toddlers, children and adolescents, and adults of all ages. He was awarded his Instructor cord in 2022. He intensified his Capoeira training in Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, Brasil over the course of two months where he learned from a wide range of Mestres.
Monitor Guerreirinho has been training with Capoeira Terreiro da Lua for seven years, originally drawn to capoeira by his love of music and desire to master a dynamic movement practice. In 2019, he took a trip to São Paulo, immersing himself in Brazilian culture and training with various capoeira groups. In 2023, he was awarded the rank of Monitor.
